Welcome to Owl's Head Falls

Where Freedom Took Flight

We are a small, tight-knit village with a 250+ year commitment to the protection of avian wildlife and specis strigiformes (owls).

In 1760, a small group of brave settlers created Owl’s Head Falls to provide these precious creatures with a sanctuary where wildlife and villagers could live together in quiet harmony.

Nestled in the White Mountains, Owl’s Head Falls is home to the Nesting Grotto where “Liberty Owl” hatched on July 4, 1776. Our village has played a role in our nation’s history ever since.

Each June, we celebrate our history and the magnificence of our owl families with the Festival of the Silent Flight. The Festival provides villagers and guests with opportunities to enjoy art and sample local jams and jellies.

If you are considering a move to a community that values quiet comfort, we welcome you.

We have wonderful schools, community facilities, and reasonable annual assessments including a special abatement program for residents who provide care for owls.

Please take a moment to review our special rules related to wildlife protection, our monthly pet and vehicle registration requirements and more. It'll be a hoot to have you join us!
