Monthly Vehicle and Pet Registration
Vehicle traffic and domestic animals can affect owl behavior, nesting, and hunting routes. Monthly registration allows the village to monitor patterns and implement mitigation, advisories, or guidance to protect owls and preserve the natural soundscape.

Owl’s Head Falls requires monthly registration of all vehicles and pets within village limits using Form OHF-1. Non-resident pets must be reported on Form 98-OW.

Permit Request Forms
The Village of Owl’s Head Falls requires permits for certain activities that may affect owls, wildlife, and the village soundscape.
Permits must be obtained in advance for the following activities: use and installation of wind chimes; the movement, stacking, or rearrangement of rocks in streams; outdoor firewood stacking; outdoor clothesline use; bird feather collection; and the possession of stuffed or plush owls.

Annual Assessments
Property assessments are calculated annually based on assessed value and the rate approved in the adopted village budget. Bills are issued at the start of the year and are due January 31.

As of 2025, the village offers an Assessment Abatement Program for residents who provided aid, comfort, or refuge to an owl on their property for at least 30 consecutive days during the assessment year. Approved properties receive a 10% reduction per qualifying year, up to a maximum of 20%. Multiple owls do not increase the maximum abatement.

NOTE: Due to prior and repeated payment attempts involving unsupported methods (including Olive Garden gift cards, cryptocurrency, the Susan B. Anthony dollar, the two dollar bill, a buffalo nickel, and "money" from the game of Monopoly), all assessments must be paid in person by cashier’s check at the Clerk’s Office.
